Hi, Im Oscar.
Hello my name is Oscar Grijalva, i'm Doctor in Clinical Psychology, now
master satudent in Clinical Neuropsychology. I think I need to study a lot of
English, since before I knew and could understand better, mainly
reading and really my carelessness and lack of practice made me forget
partially what i knew. English is a very valuable tool since the latest
research in the world is published in English and should i be able to
read, understand, speak and write academic English.

Hello my name is Tamara Naranjo. I live in Ambato City. I am a clinical psychologist and student of neuropsychology at the Central University of Ecuador. For my English is very important, because most of the neuropsychology articles are written in English. My aspiration for this English course is to easily understand all the books that are written in this language as it will be helpful for our research in the field of neuroscience.

SURGERY FOR EPILEPSY IN CHILDREN
SUMMARY
The research seeks to determine if the Epilepsy Surgery may be a therapeutic option for seizure control and control of the cognitive impairments as a result of these crises in patients children 6 to 16 years with refractory crisis that don't respond to medication mono or poly therapeutic.
The objective of the research conducted in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was to determine the correlation between both seizure outcomes, as well as the results of cognitive processes after the surgery.
Methodology-Was assessed a total of 59 pediatric patients before and at least six months after the surgery through the implementation of:
Cognitive assessment: scale of intelligence for children Wechsler (global scale, verbal scale and manipulative scale). Test of memory, executive functions test.
For the evaluation of the presence of seizures: divided the patients into two groups according to the presence or absence of the improvement of the control of the crisis after the surgery. Engel scale.
They were taken into account the following data in children: type of epilepsy, etiology, age of onset of epilepsy, duration of epilepsy and seizure frequency.
Results. The researchers compared data using analysis of variance and noted that there were significant differences in overall, verbal and manipulative scales in preoperative postoperative assessments with better results in the group with reducing crises than in the group without reducing crises in results.
The group with improvement in the crisis won a significant improvement in the level of manipulation and the group without improvement in the crisis won a significant worsening in the verbal scale.
The result of the research reflects the success of surgery for the treatment of epilepsy in children occurs when a repeat of the crisis control is achieved and that a cognitive improvement in the manipulative scale, while the persistence of crises might therefore this also lead can cause greater alterations in verbal cognitive processes this reflected in the evaluation through the verbal scale WISC-III.
